I have spent about 25 years camping and
hiking out west during the summers and have assembled a fairly large collection of nature
photographs which our friends want to see. For now, while I'm assembling this site, here
are two from Wyoming/Montana. More will hopefully follow along with some brief stories of
what I have encountered. These may give you some ideas for trips of your own.
This scene is from the Bear Tooth highway that
crosses the tundara of the Bear Tooth Range between Redlodge, Montana and Cook City,
Wyoming. Charles Kuralt has called this road the most scenic highway in America. He's
right! Out of Red Lodge, you ascend steeply with many hairpin turns and then cross the
tundra. The drive is spectacular in mid July when the flowers are out. At the other end of
the road, is Cook City and one of the the entrances to Yellowstone National Park. |
