Each campsite at the State Park has electricity and water, even tent sites.

Homes like these are being sold off and replaced by condos, shops, and restaurants.

The Pink Pony, a local surf side pub, seems to be popular with thirsty seagulls.

However, thanks to state parks and nature preserves, stretches of pristine beaches still remain.

Nearby the state park is a nature preserve with several miles of hiking trails.

Backlit by the sun, the foliage glows with rich colors.

Behind the beach is a quiet lagoon whose shore is lined with oyster shells.

And near the beach I was surprised by a blue heron who was fishing in this solitary place.

The only noise to disturb nature's own sounds were the Blue Angels out of Pensacola who were practicing their routines high above.

A helicopter ride passed by. I quickly photographed it. The above photo is an enlargement and I was surprised to see the pilot had been waving at me. I returned to the State Park and hiked the beach, watching the people and the gulls.
