Three Generations
(Photos Olympus Camedia E-10)

Phil (bulldog) Bolesky, age 86, passed away, and his funeral was the occasion for this family gathering that not only mourned but celebrated his life. He got the nickname "Bulldog" not because of his disposition, which was always sunny, but his incredible strength. He could lift a filled 40 quart milk with each arm, simultaneously swing both cans off his milk truck, and stack them atop others on the unloading dock three to four high. This feat he'd casually do repeatedly until his truck was empty.

So his offspring went to the Mack Truck dealership, bought a bulldog emblem, and mounted it on his coffin. He was buried with it, a memento to commemorate his service on the Nebraska in WW II, and a New York Yankee pennant. Patriot, Christian, and father of three: a superb pastry chef, a successful business entrepreneur, and an Olympic athlete.
