| At 16, I was finally
able to drive myself from home in Troy, NY to Tanglewood in Lennox, MA and
listen to the Boston Symphony. There, sitting on the lawn, I first
witnessed Beethoven's 9th; and, for this impressionable teen,
witnessed was the proper word. Now a much older Chicagoan I, attend CSO in the winter and Ravinia in the summer. Though I can now afford seats, I still enjoy the lawn. Here are four photos taken on June 24, 2001. A lovely, cool, non-mosquito night. (Photos Olympus Camedia E-10) |

This weekend, I'm attending two concerts as it's Christoph Eschenbach's final weekend. And the lineup is fantastic! |
|
| Friday, July 6 Chicago Symphony Orchestra Christoph Eschenbach, Conductor and Piano Emanuel Ax, Piano Weber: Overture to Euyranthe Mozart: Piano Concerto in E-flat Major K. 449 Mozart: Double Piano Concerto in E-flat Major K. 365 Mendelssohn: Symphony No. 4 "Italian" |
Saturday, July 7 Chicago Symphony Orchestra Christoph Eschenbach, Conductor Julia Fischer, Violin Tchaikovsky: Violin Concerto Shostakovich: Symphony No. 5 |
| However, I'll save some money by using Ravinia Dollars. I pay $20.00 US and get $25.00 Ravinia, good for pavilion seats, lawn, or parking. |
