Above is the largest Tiffany glass dome in the US. It's in the Chicago
Cultural Center on Randolph Street in the Loop. Every Wednesday at 12:15
P.M. beneath this dome, LaSalle bank sponsors the International
Music Foundation's Dame Myra Hess Concerts. The concerts last 45
minutes and are open to the public. The photos were taken at a
recent concert featuring a young pianist from New England.
The following information is from the concert's web site: International Music FoundationThe International Music Foundation presents Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concerts at the Cultural Center each Wednesday at noon, as well as monthly Young People's Concerts. Founded and directed by Al Booth, the International Music Foundation creates performance opportunities for talented young artists and builds future audiences. Over the past seventeen years the Hess concerts have helped launch some of today's brightest stars, including sopranos June Anderson and Barbara Hendricks, violinist Nigel Kennedy, cellist Nathaniel Rosen, and pianist Barry Douglas. Young People's Concerts often serve as school children's introduction to classical music, and concerts by young people's ensembles, such as the City Youth Strings provide valuable performance opportunities for youth.
