Dear Nephew,

You must spend some time putting together all these clippings about Illinois politics. I was showing the pile to Eben* as he’s interested in goings on politically even if it isn’t our own state. Guess that’s what makes him a great history teacher.

Eben, grinning, says your Republicans are trying to polish their tarnished image by putting up a Holier-Than-Thou front. He says they got this carpet bagging, holy-roller from Maryland running for your State Senator just to show you people no one in Illinois is good enough for them.

Eben believes your Republicans got the right idea but the wrong direction. Since no one in Illinois seems good enough for them, they should have instead packed off to Maryland.
