Dear Nephew,

Thanks for emailing me the photos taken by the Hubble space telescope. When I now look up at the night sky, I realize what vast expanse we see and how small we really are – except to ourselves, of course.

Too bad the administration is putting a stop to it. Since Galileo we’ve used telescopes to better see our place in this universe. Of course, church fundamentalists have occasionally gotten upset at the results – like the earth isn’t flat or the sun has spots and such.

Maybe we've got another instance of our government thinking real science isn't important. Maybe the administration’s fundamentalist supporters aren't really for using taxpayer dollars to learn more about a heaven that isn't theirs.

 Yours truly,
Great Aunt Maggie Pye
