Film Fracas - 911                                                                         May 23, 2004

Dear Nephew,

The Boston paper says Michael Moore’s comedy “Fahrenheit 911”, which pokes fun at Bush & Co, took the prize at Cannes.

But here’s a fine howdy-do, it won’t be seen in the US.

Michael Eisner, head of Disney, is stopping its distribution here by Miramax.

Moore says Eisner fears Jeb Bush will retaliate against 911 by cutting off Disney’s special Florida tax breaks.

However, Eisner, I read, claims that’s nonsense.

And, Nephew, that makes sense cause we know Bush & Co isn’t at all vindictive.

Eisner claims 911’s is too political to be distributed. He wants Disney to remain non-political.

Well, Nephew, I’ve heard that one long before.

As I see it, you can’t have your cake and eat it too. Suppressing 911, he’s simply getting into bed with Bush & Co rather than backing Michael Moore & Co.

If Eisner’s that concerned for Disney's welfare, maybe he ought to do like Leni Riefenstahl and become Bush & Co's personal film maker.

Yours truly,
Great Aunt Maggie Pye
