Playing With Our Civil Liberties March 3, 2004
Uncle Sam - Troy, NY Greetings Nephew, Went down to Hank's store last night for our weekly pinochle get together. Hank said our favorite cards, the ones showing Saddam and his gang of thugs, were pretty well faded away and might not hold out much longer. “Can you get another deck?” I asked. “Perhaps.” Hank said he’d heard the President himself wanted a deck of cards showing the faces of Al Qaeda leaders so he could “X” them off as they were eliminated. But Hank didn’t know if he could find a pack of them cause now they're hard to locate. But he thought the powers Bush & Co. got from the Patriot Act, might inspire them to put out a deck of cards showing one of our civil liberties on each. Then, as the War on Terror progressed, they could be “X’d” off too. "Good Lord! Hank", I exclaimed, "Find that deck, 'n I'll despair Bush & Co. have trumped the terrorists for sure." Yours truly, |
